Location

SPELT English College is in the centre of Brisbane, capital of Queensland, "The Sunshine State". With almost 300 days of sunshine a year, its warm climate and convenient location - midway between the beaches of the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast - make Brisbane a favourite with locals and tourists alike.

From Brisbane, you can visit fun and theme parks, wildlife reserves, tourist attractions and farms or try your hand at surfing, scuba diving golfing, bushwalking, boating, fishing and surf life-saving. Brisbane is also the ideal base for travel througout Queensland and to the other Australian states. Explore Queensland's Great Barrier Reef, the rainforests or 'the great outback' or cross state borders to Sydney, Melbourne, Ayers Rock or Kakadu in the 'Top End'.

SPELT English courses cater to different ages, needs and abilities

No matter which course you choose, you'll be improving your skills in a warm, caring and supportive environment. Our modern facilities such as multi-media, computer room are designed to make learning easier and faster. In small classes, run by experienced teachers, we provide personal tuition for:

Adults Full or part-time study courses suit beginners through to advanced students. Courses run from 2 weeks to 1 year. Examination courses are available for IELTS, Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced Certificate and Cambridge Business English Certificates.

Study Tours Over 1 to 6 weeks, this program combines English lessons with half and full day torus to exciting and interesting attractions.

Teenagers Full-time study is available for teenagers for General English and for High School Preparation. The High School preparation course combines general English with studies in computing skills, English for Science, Mathematics and Social Studies, as well as essay writing, study skills and an introduction to English literature.

Children from 8 to 12 years During holiday seasons, the college offers courses for younger children travelling with older brothers and sisters or their parents. For younger children, placement in child care or kindergartens can be arranged.

Individuals Quality one-to-one courses can be arranged in the school or through our English in a Teacher's Home program.

Groups Special programs can be tailor-made to meet group needs. These can combine English lessons with tours and educational outings.

Services

At SPELT, we take special care to make sure our students are happy

From the day you arrive, we'll meet you at the airport and drive you to your accommodation, if you wish. Our Welfare Officer is on hand to help you with accommodation, medical, banking, social and personal matters.

We'd like you to tell us about your likes and dislikes (eg vegetarianism, smoking or if you like being with children). We can match you with an appropriate host family. All homes are checked by our Welfare Officer to ensure that they meet our standards. If you do have problems, the Welfare Officer is there to help.

To make your stay in Brisbane even more enjoyable, you can join us on regular trips to local attractions such as Underwater World, Seaworld, Dreamworld, Movieworld, Sciencentre, sporting events and the Koala sanctuary.

We also provide a free advisory service for students who want to apply for entry to Australian High Schools, Technical Colleges or Universities after their English course.
